Nominations for all categories must refer to passenger rail carriages entering service between 1 November 2007 and 3 November 2008. Carriages undergoing final shakedown trials may be entered, concepts may not.
A shortlist of three entries per category will be drawn up by Railway Interiors International editorial staff and the Railway Interiors Awards jury.
Passenger Comfort Innovation of the Year: entries can refer to seats, toilet provisions, lighting, carriage environment controls – anything that has a major, positive impact on passenger comfort.
Safety / Accessibility Feature of the Year: entries can cover any interior design or equipment provision which makes rail travel more accessible or safe.
Passenger Infotainment Innovation of the Year: an award for the system, or the innovative use of such a system, that best contributes to passengers’ information and entertainment.
Refurbishment of the Year: entries can cover any full interior refurbishment.
Security Innovation of the Year: the award will go to the design concept or use of technology that most enhances the security of either passengers, railway staff or both.
Design of the Year: entries should relate to total carriage interior design, taking into consideration all of the factors above.
Passenger Service Innovation of the Year: entries can relate to any activity or initiative which enhances levels of passenger service, for instance a new training scheme, work practice or branding initiative. Only rail operators or their outsourced contractors may be entered for this award.
The members of the jury will use their personal knowledge and industry experience to judge the short-listed entries based on comprehensive information packs provided by the lead company on each nominated project.
Visitors to the exhibition will be handed a ballot paper when they arrive and will be encouraged to visit the stands of companies who have entered products for this award.
Voting will close at 4pm on 5 November 2008 and the winner will be announced at The Railway Interiors Innovation and Excellence Awards 2008 reception at the end of the day. |
